Developing Management Skills
A Skills Bootcamp delivered by Calderdale College in Developing Management Skills for SMEs in the Social Care (providers), Early Years (nurseries and out of school clubs) or Hospitality sectors
This unique programme is aimed at new and aspiring managers and team leaders alongside experienced managers seeking to refine and refresh their skills with current practice. Attendees will need to aspire to progress in work and have discussed potential progression pathways within their respective employers.
The cost of the programme is £1,800 per learner, however, an employer only pays 10% (£180). This programme is part funded through Department for Education Skills Bootcamps.
The programme comprises a blended learning pattern containing a mixture of 3 full day face to face* sessions interspersed with 3-hour online sessions.
*Face to Face sessions will take place in the York area with others from the same sector.
The main learning objectives are:
- To develop managers’ abilities to lead, motivate and inspire their teams
- To understand and adopt management techniques to achieve better results.
- To understand the principles of motivation and change management and be able to apply these when leading people through workplace change.
- To increase confidence in undertaking the responsibilities of management and develop self-help networks with others to enable learning from experience to be shared and applied.
- To improve communication within the team, wider organisation and with external partners through enhanced communication skills as well as greater strategic awareness.
- To improve time management, delegation, negotiation and prioritisation skills.
- To gain effective tools for monitoring and measuring team performance.
- To instil self-awareness and reflection amongst managers to enable greater ownership of personal learning and future development.
